It seemed like a horrible match. The unfortunate thing is, he actually succeeded in guilting me into a second date. If only you would just give that nice guy a chance, popular wisdom goes, he might surprise you. Being nice is not a ticket to a date with a person of your choice. This is a widespread stereotype: women like bad boys.
I was 16 years old. I spent the night drinking at a house party with a bunch of my classmates. I drank to the point where I was fairly intoxicated— flirting and kissing a boy I met way back in 6th grade. He was nice to me though, and I enjoyed his company. After kissing for a few minutes, he guided me to the bottom of the staircase that led up to the bedrooms. It would all be okay , he assured me.
In addition to the full-time job of keeping the relationship going, keeping the sex going can be like a second job. Is it the cleaning horse stalls all summer kind, or the fun lifeguard at the pool kind? The work of it may feel like an interminable slog or it may not feel like work at all. But there is still some kind of work if you have either mismatched libidos due to desire issues, or bad timing due to life issues.
Sex has to be one of life's simplest pleasures. So it's strange that human nature often complicates what should be such a simple thing; instead of being able to just enjoy it for what it is, we often completely ruin casual sexual relationships by, you know, actually engaging with each other's personalities and developing feelings for one another and appreciating each other for more than just the sex.
